Hybrid Caravan Warranty Policy and Service Schedule

Outback Tourer Vanlife Warranty & Service Policy 2025

Thank you for choosing Outback Tourer Vanlife, we are proud to produce high-quality Australian caravans designed for comfort, adventure, and long-term reliability.
To provide complete confidence in your purchase, every new Outback Tourer Vanlife Caravan comes with a 2-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty and an additional 7-Year Structural Warranty, giving a total of 7 years of warranty protection (the Warranty).
This Warranty complements your existing rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

Under the ACL, you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and compensation for any reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to repair or replacement if your caravan fails to meet acceptable quality standards and the issue is not considered a major failure.
Nothing in this Warranty limits or replaces your rights under Australian law.

Warranty Coverage

Outback Tourer Vanlife guarantees to the original owner that the construction and assembly of your caravan are free from defects in materials and workmanship, provided it has been used and serviced in accordance with our instructions.

  1. Manufacturer’s Warranty: Covers the caravan for 2 years from the date of delivery against defects in workmanship or materials under normal use.
  2. Structural Warranty: Covers the chassis, frame, and structural components for an additional 5 years, protecting against defects that compromise the structural integrity of the caravan.
  3. Total Warranty Period: The combined coverage period is 7 years.

This Warranty applies only to the original purchaser and cannot be transferred to another owner, except under the terms of the structural warranty (transfer fees may apply).

  1. No Unauthorised Repairs: Repairs performed without prior written consent from Outback Tourer Vanlife will not be reimbursed.
  2. Extent of Warranty: This document represents the full express warranty obligations of Outback Tourer Vanlife; no other express warranties or representations apply.

Exclusions

This Warranty does not cover issues resulting from:

  1. Unauthorized Modifications: Any repairs, alterations, or modifications carried out by persons not authorised by Outback Tourer Vanlife.
  2. Commercial or Rental Use: The warranty does not extend to caravans used for commercial purposes, including but not limited to business operations, hire or rental services, or as a permanent place of residence. Such usage subjects the caravan to higher wear and tear, increased operational demands, and conditions beyond those intended for standard recreational use. This exclusion also explicitly includes extensive long-distance travel, such as circumnavigating Australia or similar extended journeys, which places additional strain on the caravan beyond normal recreational use. Outback Tourer Vanlife cannot accept liability for faults, damage, or accelerated deterioration arising from these non-standard uses.
  3. Neglect or Misuse: Overloading, improper towing, accidents, or misuse of the caravan.
  4. Unsuitable Towing Vehicle: Towing with a vehicle not designed to safely handle the caravan’s weight or design.
  5. Environmental Damage: Exposure to extreme weather conditions, including hail, saltwater, wind, heat, or dust that exceeds normal use conditions.
  6. Water Ingress or Infestation: Damage caused by flooding, submersion, or pest infestations (rodents, insects, etc.).
  7. Non-Approved Parts: Use of non-authorised accessories, appliances, or components.
  8. Poor Maintenance: Failure to perform required maintenance or follow Outback Tourer Vanlife’s care instructions.
  9. High-Pressure Cleaning or Chemicals: Damage caused by using solvents, chemicals, or high-pressure washers that compromise coatings or seals.
  10. Wear and Tear: Normal deterioration of fabrics, canvas, seals, upholstery, or mattresses.
  11. Condensation Damage: Damage to internal finishes or sealants due to moisture accumulation or natural aging.

Third-Party Components & Appliances

Certain appliances and accessories fitted to your Outback Tourer Vanlife Caravan are produced by external manufacturers. These include, but are not limited to, fridges, cooktops, air conditioners, and entertainment systems.

  1. Manufacturer Warranties Apply: These components are covered under their own manufacturer’s warranty and are not included in the Outback Tourer Vanlife Warranty.
  2. Assistance with Claims: Outback Tourer Vanlife will assist you in coordinating a claim with the relevant manufacturer where possible.

Awning Obligations

We take pride in the quality and durability of our products, and we are committed to providing our customers with the best possible service. As such, we offer a 12-month warranty on this product against any defects in materials or workmanship.

  1. Warranty Period: The warranty period starts from the date of purchase and lasts for 12 months. During this time, we will repair or replace any parts that are found to be defective due to materials or workmanship, free of charge.
  2. Covered Items: This warranty covers any defects that occur during normal use of the Outback Tourer 270 Freestanding Awning. It covers the awning poles, the awning fabric, and all other components of the awning that are included with the original purchase.
  3. Exclusions: This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, negligence, accident, or modification of the product. It also does not cover damage caused by acts of nature, such as wind, rain, hail, or other weather events. Our awnings are designed to protect against the sun and are highly water-resistant; occasional single water drips may occur and will not constitute a valid warranty claim.

Off-Road Use Policy

Outback Tourer Vanlife caravans are engineered to handle Australia’s diverse off-road conditions while providing safety and comfort.

  1. Dust and Water Protection: While designed for off-road conditions, caravans are not fully dust- or water-proof due to essential venting requirements. Never expose the caravan to water at or above floor level.
  2. Driving Guidelines: Reduce speed according to track conditions and terrain.
  3. Tyre Pressures:
    • Bitumen road: 45–50 PSI
    • Sand/Beach Driving: 15–20 PSI
    • Corrugated/Rocky Terrain: 20–25 PSI

Off-Road Warranty Exclusions

The following are not covered when using the caravan off-road:

  1. Impact or Stone Damage: Chassis, undercarriage, or body panel damage caused by stones or collisions.
  2. Dust or Dirt Contamination: Soiling or staining of interior fabrics or fittings from airborne materials.
  3. Water Damage: Damage from creek crossings, deep puddles, or submersion.
  4. Unsuitable Terrain: Damage resulting from driving on tracks unsuitable for caravans.
  5. Component Dislodgement: Loose or broken parts due to heavy impacts or rough landings.
  6. Cleaning or Chemical Damage: Deterioration caused by high-pressure washing or inappropriate cleaning chemicals.

Owner Responsibilities – Maintenance & Servicing

Proper maintenance is essential to ensure your Outback Tourer Vanlife Caravan remains safe, reliable, and under warranty.

  1. Tyres and Alignment: Regularly check tyre pressures and wheel alignment.
  2. Lubrication and Tightening: Grease and tighten suspension and chassis components.
  3. Filters and Systems: Clean and replace filters for air conditioners, water pumps, and other systems.
  4. Surface Care: Maintain paint, sealants, and protective coatings to prevent corrosion.
  5. Servicing: All servicing must be performed by an authorised Outback Tourer Vanlife dealer or service agent.
  6. Service Intervals: The first service will be completed at 3,000 km and thereafter at intervals of 12 months or 10,000 km, whichever occurs first.
Failure to maintain the caravan in line with this schedule may void the Warranty.
  7. Fire Extinguisher Inspection: It is essential to conduct regular inspections of the caravan’s fire extinguisher to ensure it remains fully operational and compliant with current safety standards. This includes checking the pressure gauge, ensuring the extinguisher is free from damage or corrosion, verifying that the safety pin and tamper seal are intact, and confirming the unit is easily accessible in an emergency. Failure to maintain and inspect the fire extinguisher may compromise safety and could affect warranty coverage in the event of a fire-related incident.
  8. Breakaway Battery System Check: It is essential to verify that the caravan’s breakaway battery system is fully charged and operational prior to each journey. This system is a critical safety feature designed to automatically apply the caravan’s brakes in the event of unintended detachment from the towing vehicle. Regular checks should include confirming the battery charge level, inspecting all connections for corrosion or damage, and ensuring the system engages correctly during testing. Failure to maintain and test the breakaway battery system could compromise the safety of the caravan, its occupants, and other road users, and may affect warranty coverage in the event of an incident.
  9. Breakaway Battery System – Emergency Use Only: It is essential to understand that the caravan’s breakaway battery system is exclusively designed for emergency situations and is not intended to be used as a handbrake or primary braking device under any circumstances. This system is engineered to automatically apply the caravan’s brakes only if the caravan becomes detached from the towing vehicle. Misuse of the breakaway system as a handbrake can cause premature wear, potential system failure, or compromise its effectiveness during an actual emergency. Prior to each journey, ensure the breakaway battery is fully charged, connections are secure, and the system is operational, so it can function reliably in the event of an unforeseen detachment.

Policy Updates

These changes can happen without notifying current or past customers individually. There is no obligation for Outback Tourer Vanlife to inform you in advance of revisions.
